A Short History of the Teacher

I was born in 1961 and nothing happened until 1986 when I was lucky enough to walk through the big black door of No.7 Upper Wimpole St, London. The home of Dr. John Kells and his British T'ai Chi Ch'uan Association. Dr John Kells: part leprechaun, part diamond, all heart and mostly spirit, a great man - I thank you.

T'ai-Chi is an ancient Chinese exercise derived from Taoist philosophy with roots 4,000 years old. It is a complete training containing yoga with form and yoga without form. Only two simple requirements: Start T'ai-Chi Ch'aun. Continue T'ai-Chi Ch'uan.

T'ai-Chi appeals to all sections of the community and there are no restrictions on the type of person who can undertake instruction: old and young, the weak and infirm as well as the strong and healthy. T'ai-Chi covers both sexes and one current class has pupils ranging from age 14 to 80! The benefits of T'ai-Chi include increased relaxation which results in the attainment and maintenance of good mental, spiritual and physical health, a longer life, and a happier day-to-day existence.
